With the Palm Centro and the Palm Treo 500v already out and confirmed, we’re just waiting on the rumored Palm Treo 800w to show itself. What you see to the right is a mockup of what could be the successor to the venerable Palm Treo 7xx series Windows Mobile smartphones.
Word on the street has it that the CDMA Palm Treo 800w will be jamming to the tune of Sprint’s network and bring some of the Palm Centro’s design cues to the flagship Treo. We’re looking for the awkwardly stubby antenna to get the ax when it drops on Sprint - a first for Sprint Treos.
Again, we gotta stress that this pic is a mockup. But, the design of the Palm Treo 800w could implement some key elements - no antenna, revised Windows Mobile soft-key placement, and 320×320 display. Oh, and the Palm Treo 800w could be the last nail in the Palm OS coffin - it’s been a great run, but we can’t say we’re too sad to see its end.
Look for the Palm Treo 800w to drop sometime in early to mid 2008.
