Well, actually, they were supposed to be on the way. You see, according to a leaked slide-show package from within AT&T, the Palm Treo 750 was supposed to get some updates from AT&T on October 15 - that launch windows has gone and passed, we’re still holding out for the Palm Treo 750 update to drop soon. And, the Palm OS-powered Palm Treo 680 is slated for an update on October 22, so we’ll have to wait and see how that one pans out.

The slide for the Palm Treo 750 indicated that the long-awaited Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional upgrade would be made available to Treo 750 owners on AT&T’s airspace. The update was is rumored to boost 3G speeds to 1.8Mbps (HSDPA) and enable Cellular Video, AT&T Mail, AT&T Music, MobiTV, TeleNav. A revised active call display is also in the cards.

The Palm Treo 680 will still allegedly be stuck with the tired Palm OS, but it’ll get updated with PTT (push-to-talk) functionality, MP3 ringtone support, TeleNav, MobiTV, and instant messaging.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for these updates. We’re hoping to see something, come October 22. All you AT&T Palm Treo 750 owners just itching to get Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional loaded up on your smartphone will just have to wait and see what happens. Or, you know, just get the leaked ROM yourself and get jiggy with WinMo 6.0 Professional right quick.
